Of Lenses and Moose: Newell Beach again

We've been back several times, it's only about 1 minutes' drive away.

There is the solid boat ramp at one end, where a female croc can often be seen. And a mud boat ramp at the other end where a river (not the Daintree) reaches the sea and a 4m male croc often lurks on the far bank. And there's the beach in the midde, which rivals Fraserburgh Bay and Bamburgh Beach. That's the bit where we go with the dog. Not seen a croc cruising off the beach yet, though I'm sure they do. We don't go in the water so safe enough.

Since I put up the photo of Tish and Odin on my first full day, I've been back with Doms (tide was high and no crocs about on the mud banks; and no beach to walk Odin); went with Doms and Hamish the day Hamish was off (it was his 2nd day off; he'd been home with me the day before as Doms and Tish were both working, today he was only home because Tish said his coughing would be too much of a distraction to other students - and it did improve fairly quickly of course - but Doms didn't want me "wasting" another day so we walked the dog - the tide was lower and the smaller female was out soaking up the sun); stopped there en route back from Caper Tribulation and spotted the big croc, mainly submerged but at least there; then we went back yesterday - the tide was lower, got some lovely egret views, small croc basking half submerged, Doms saw big croc eyes early on but when we went back it had vanished - the aim was to walk the dog, but it reached 30degC by 0830 that morning so he only went about 50 yards before we took him back home and returned alone later - when your undercaarriage is that short the heat radiating off the sand (even off the damp sand) is enormous.
