Kitchen - Day 5

We're sorting the "odds and ends" at the moment - all the little details that have got to be finished before the new ceiling goes up.  While I was at the hospital yesterday the plasterers stopped by, and Martin has arranged for them to sort it on Saturday week.  (They could have done this Saturday - we couldn't.)  Before then we must have the pipework for the repositioned radiators in place, all the wiring for the 24 LED downlights (which we're going to set up in 3 banks, with 2 way switches, one set by each door), the wiring for the under surface downlights (all will go off a single switch at each entrance), the wiring for all the wall sockets (lots!) and the ducting for the extractor fan.  The ceiling will then go up and once in place we'll cut the holes to pull all the wiring through, paint it and then finish off the electrics.  While Martin does all the fiddly stuff I'm also peeling off the wallpaper - we're not going back to bare plaster everywhere, but will put a PVA coating over the paper undersurface and tile on that.

You can just see the touch controls on the front

The framework - the huge "tube" behind it then goes over when it's hanging from the joists

Working out where the sockets and undersurface lighting will be

Working out where to put the downlights - nicely random pattern

....and the other one
