Kitchen - Day 8

Today was a day for money.  I'm paying Martin in weekly installments (it makes it easy for me as much as him, so I can keep an eye on where my money is going).  The first week was expensive as Martin had paid for the skip and we used a lot of copper piping on the new radiator preparations.  Copper piping is expensive!

Today we went shopping.  I have bought.....

• several new pieces of ducting (for the extractor) as well as an external vent
• chrome pipe elbow & 2 chrome thermostatic valves for the new rads (chrome are hugely expensive but the white ones would look really naff with the rest of the kitchen being metal not white)
• a 10 litre drum of white matt paint for the ceiling
• a 5 litre can of white silk paint as ceiling top coat
• (no rollers as the mice don't seem to have eaten all the ones in the shed)
• a huge dust sheet to cover all the existing floor tiles, units, hob etc when the plasterers are in
• 20 fire rated down lights (only half in stock - back tomorrow to collect the rest)
• 2 radiators (not in stock - should be delivered next week, designer ones just like I put in the conservatory, a nice grey colour)
• floor & wall tiles - in huge quantities (also not in stock - we'll pick them up next Wednesday)

Some of it was Screwfix, which is nice and cheap, the rest was B&Q and Tile Giant.  Martin has trade cards for both, meaning a nice saving - £90 saved on the tiles, 10% on all the wall tiles and 15% on the floor tiles.  Very nice.

The Marley doors for the lounge/kitchen interface were delivered today as well.

My lounge is now a dumping ground, as we're puling everything out of the kitchen ready for the plasterers.

Having a day off tomorrow, big day Thursday - Wickes delivery, plasterboards coming from Travis Perkins, and the electrician starts.  We've finalised all the plans for him:

We skipped the OSH tonight.  Had large slugs of a rather good single malt in our coffee instead when we got back from our shopping spree - I needed it!
