Kitchen - Day 17

Seem to have done lots today.

Adrian the electrician has been back.  All the ceiling down lights are in.  The remote sensor in the big larder unit, that lights up little LED strips when you open the door, is working.  They only provided enough strips for about a third, so I'm going on line tonight to find some more of the same to click in below.  The under surface lighting for the far wall is connected.  Can't use any of them yet - they'll be sorted tomorrow and then I can.  Shall plan to put the 2nd coat of paint on the ceiling on Wednesday.

Martin started by putting the decor end panel on the larder unit and mounting the radiator.  (It isn't plumbed in yet, just hanging.)  We put a long piece of bacofoil (turkey size - what a good thing you didn't use it after all this year Ma!)) the full length sandwiched between the larder and the decor panel to reflect some of the radiator's heat out, but I won't be storing food in there anyway.

Martin has also assembled all the units for the dresser wall.  Unfortunately, without the worktop we can't finish it off, as the 2 upright units at the ends will be standing on it.

I rang Dass about the worktops - he was stunned I hadn't had a call from them yet, let alone the worktops themselves.  He didn't get back to me later, which was a slight surprise.  Martin has a contact who recommended a "solid surface" worktop that we think is similar.  Samples of the 3 black varieties and full brochures will reach Martin tomorrow evening. On Wednesday we'll chose one, work out what we need & get a quote.  Apparently it's mostly off the shelf so could probably reach us on Wednesday or Thursday.  If still nothing from Wickes, and I like the samples, we'll cancel on Wednesday and order new.

You can see just how many wall tiles we have now the drawer unit has moved into the kitchen!

Base of dresser unit - like the veggie baskets? Drawer unit from hall at far end

Upright dresser units and drawers for the rest - fit tomorrow

It looks great there

You can't see the LED strips are working, but they're either side just round the corner out of sight - you can see the infra red sensor top middle

Must now dash, may well be late for work!
